Stavo visitando il sito del MU (http://www.mu.nl), un centro artistico ad Eindhoven, Olanda, quando ho letto di un progetto che si chiama NAT - designing nature. La parola NAT significa "umido" in olandese, e si ricollega, ironicamente, al collettivo di design DROOG (http://www.droogdesign.nl), parola che significa "secco". E, ovviamente, NAT è anche abbreviazione di "nature". In occasione del NAT, lo spazio del MU è stato trasformato quasi in una serra, o in un laboratorio. Durante le tre settimane dell'esposizione, tutti gli oggetti hanno subito una trasformazione. Al progetto - che si è svolto a novembre 2007 - hanno partecipato dieci designers olandesi, che hanno espresso nei loro lavori il collegamento tra "natura e cultura, biologia e design". Il che, in sé, non è niente di originale: si potrebbe dire che ormai l'argomento sia uno standard. Tuttavia, come potrete vedere dal video, i singoli progetti sono interessanti. Personalmente, mi sono piaciute molto la Shy Light e Melt and Destroy. I was visiting the site for MU, the art centre in Eindhoven, Netherlands, when I've come across a project called NAT - designing nature. The word NAT in dutch means "wet", so it ironically links to the desing collective DROOG, which means "dry" instead. And, obviously, NAT is an abbreviation standing for "nature". During the NAT project, the art gallery's space has been transformed into a greenhouse, a laboratory. During the expo's three weeks, each object has gone through an evolution. Ten dutch designers have done their works to express the link between "nature and culture, biology and design". Which is not a new subject in design and art: we could even say it is a standard. Though, as you can see in the video, the single projects are very interesting. I especially like the Shy Light and Melt and Destroy.
